Quality Performances Off The Beaten Track

IT began with a love of music. From studying the piano at the age of five, to learning the acoustic bass and hearing Thelonius Monk as a teenager in New York, that love eventually grew to encompass all the performing arts. And there lay the origin of Artbeat.

Artbeat is a not-for-profit arts presenting organization that was formed by David Shaw in Ashland, Oregon in 1987. In addition to seven tours of 'Ain’t Misbehavin',’ Artbeat also toured 'A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline' and 'Shirley Valentine,' starring Helen Reddy.

Presenting world music, dance and jazz in 40 West Coast communities, Artbeat is committed to bringing the very best in cultural entertainment to communities that appreciate the arts but may be off the beaten track and under-served.

Artbeat renovated and presented in Oregon’s Old Ashland Armory, and raised funds for the Historic Everett Theater restoration. Preserving a community's interest in the arts and it's theatrical facilities is crucial to sustaining a community's culture and vitality.

Contact Artbeat for bookings of these and other events; for strategic planning assistance and performing arts- related grant proposal writing.
