SAINT PETERSBURG
CLASSIC BALLET
Reviewers are raving about this sparkling
new production directed by A. Curtis Farrow.

In their multi-colored zoot suits, the 'Five
Guys Named Moe"
harmonize, croon, wail,
tap and joke their way through 27 Louis
Jordan hits.   This cast of entertainers
practically knock themselves out to make
sure the audience is having a good time.

The show stopping "Choo Choo Choo
Boogie"
and the sentimental "Don't Let The
Sun Catch You Crying"
are crowd-pleasers
of the first order.

The audience finds it impossible to resist
joining in the riotous fun with the comic
Moes,  who seem like cartoon characters
come to life.
"SOPHISTICATED LADIES" is a treasure trove of Duke Ellington’s
musical riches that  won  two Tony Awards, brought fame to Gregory Hines
and is still one of the greatest  vehicles for tap, song and The Duke’s
sophisticated jazz arrangements.

"SOPHISTICATED LADIES" is a glorious re-creation of the Duke's big band
sound, featuring his most famous numbers from the infamous Speak Easy
era of the Cotton Club,  the Harlem Renaissance,  art deco and high society,
including:
"It Don't Mean a Thing, If It Ain't Got That Swing," "Take the 'A' Train,"
"Satin Doll"
and the haunting "In a Sentimental Mood."

Songs are accompanied by a jazz band led by Darius Frowner with dance
numbers performed by top New York tap dancers and produced by Irving
Street Rep,  who brought their production of
"AIN’T MISBEHAVIN’" to this
area last season.   Irving Street Rep’s production infuses the show with a
swanky, 1940's style and demonstrates that Ellington’s music still really
'swings' today.

    "GOSPITALITY" is a hand-clapping, fan
waving gospel review, which takes the
audience through the history of gospel
    music.

From slave ship rhythms, to call and
response in the cotton fields the
moving spirituals 'Wade in the Water'
and "Nobody Knows the Trouble I've
Seen" are the starting points for this
journey, which includes over 20 all time
    favorite gospel songs.

    Remembering such famous gospel
    pioneers as Mahalia Jackson, Thomas
Dorsey, The Five Blind Boys of Alabama,
    Rosetta Tharp and Marian Anderson.

Hear "Lift Every Voice and Sing," the
anthem for the Civil Rights Movement
of the Sixties and Sing the Seventies
    classic, "Oh Happy Day," GOSPITALITY"
explores our journey and helps to guide
    our footsteps in future adventures.

A must see for the entire family … and
    the entire community!
