This Season's Performances
IT  began with a love of music.  From studying the piano
at the age of five,  to learning the acoustic bass and
hearing Thelonius Monk as a teenager in New York, that
love eventually grew to encompass all the performing
arts.  And there lay the  origin of

ArtBeat is a not-for-profit arts presenting organization
that was formed by David Shaw in Ashland, Oregon in
1987.   In addition to seven tours of 'Ain’t Misbehavin',’
ArtBeat also toured  'A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline' and
'Shirley Valentine,' starring Helen Reddy.

Presenting world music, dance and jazz in 40 West Coast
ArtBeat is committed to bringing the very
best in cultural entertainment to communities that
appreciate the arts but are off the  beaten track and

ArtBeat renovated and presented in Oregon’s Old
Ashland Armory, and raised funds for the Historic Everett
Theater.  Preserving a community's interest in the arts
and it's theatre is important to sustaining our culture and
social evolution.

Irving Street Rep.  Founders
IRVING STREET REP. was founded in 1991 and is dedicated to
producing the finest in theatrical and musical entertainment.

Its first production, "Ain’t Misbehavin’", was met with raves.  This
encouraged the group to tackle even more ambitious projects.  
Their next endeavor was a full-scale revival of "Your Arms Too Short
to Box with God," which included a cast of 20 and a 30-member
gospel choir. It set Milwaukee on fire and proceeded to tour the

Since then, Irving Street Rep has produced tours of "Five Guys
Named Moe," "Gospel," "Sophisticated Ladies," "The Elegance of
Ellington," "The Nat King Cole Songbook" and original works
"Rhythm" and "Gospitality."
