Dynamic choral works, slyly funny songs, and traditional carols all combine as Seattle Men's Chorus presents its annual Holiday Concert, this year entitled Haul Out the Holly, with a special Everett performance on Saturday, December 6 at the Everett Civic Auditorium: 8 pm. The Everett show represents the eighth consecutive time Artbeat has presented the Seattle Men's Chorus Holiday Concert in Everett.

The concert will be filled with audience favorites from SMC's first 25 years, including Over the River and Through the Woods, Hard Candy Christmas and Lo, How A Rose E'er Blooming. In a somber moment, the Chorus will perform Not in Our Town, written about a real incident several years ago in Billings, Montana when many Christian residents lit menorahs in their homes in support of a Jewish family who had been terrorized by white supremacists after placing the familiar Jewish icon in their window.

With its usual flair for the comedic, SMC will roll out a Musicological Journey Through the Twelve Days of Christmas, with each verse performed in the distinctive musical style of a different era, beginning with the partridge in 6th Century Rome, and ending with twelve drummers drumming from 19th Century America…with stops through the centuries in France, Italy, Germany, Austria and Italy. Another highlight will be a seated line of high-kicking reindeer as the Chorus presents Favorite "One" from The Will Rogers Follies, and Captain Smartypants' daring new choreographed version of The Nutcracker.

Of course no SMC Holiday show would be complete without the signature Silent Night and the most powerful and uplifting carol sing-along in the Northwest. Under the direction of Mr. Coleman, Seattle Men's Chorus has become America's premiere all-male chorus. The Chorus has sung to critical acclaim in New York, Boston, Dallas, San Francisco, Washington, DC. Dennis and SMC are recognized nationally as leaders in musicianship, programming, commissioning of new works, collaboration with major artists in varied media, and audience development.
